Setup WIFI on ChromeBook devices

Overview

Chrome book devices can use the JoinNow wireless configuration tool.

Steps to Join Eduroam through the JoinNow tool

  1. Join welcome2bing
  2. Open the captive portal page in a browser.
  3. Open the click here link in a new tab
  4. Input an email address to get onto the guest wifi
  5. In the JoinNow tab, open the chrome extension download in a new

 

  1. Download the Chrome extension.

 

 

  1. Click Add Extension in the pop up

 

  1. You will get a confirmation pop up when it is successful.

 

 

  1. Go back to the JoinNow tool tab, refresh the page. There should be a credential login screen.

 

 

 

  1. Enter your BU credentials. Note that the extension will not validate that they are correct. Make the right username and password are used.
  2. Then click on download. This will download the .onc file.
  3. Next switch to the network tab.

 

  1. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and find the Import ONC File


 

  1. Click on Choose file and Browse to your downloads folder.
  2. Locate the SecureW2.onc file and click open.

 

  1. When successfully you will see Networks imported under the Choose file button.

 

 

  1. Open up your Wifi Networks.
  2. Click eduroam to join
  3. Forget welcome2bing

 

 

Join Eduroam by Manually setting wifi settings

  1. Forget the eduroam network.
  2. Click on eduroam.
  3. Change the EAP method to PEAP

 

  1. Choose MSCHAPv2 for the EAP Phase 2 authentication. For Server CA Certificate choose Do Not Check. For the Domain Suffix match enter binghamton.edu

 

  1. Next enter your username in the identity section. Enter your Password in the Password field. Leave Anonymous Identity field blank
  2. Click Connect and you will be connected to eduroam.
