How to map Faculty or Staff network drives on MacOS (H Drive, S Drive, or Encrypted Research Storage)

Overview

This article provides instructions for mapping your Faculty or Staff network drives on your MacOS. 

Note: To connect to network drives from off-campus, you must first connect to iVanti VPN.

MacOS

  1. In the Finder, click on the Go menu, select Connect to Server.

  1. Enter smb:// followed by the address for the resource you wish to map.
    1. For your H drive, or personal drive, type the following where username followed by the "$" symbol: smb://bushare.binghamton.edu/username$

  1. For your S drive, or shared drive, type the following where departmentdrivename is the name of your department or shared folder:smb://bushare.binghamton.edu/departmentdrivename

  1. Enter your Name as BU\username as a Registered User when prompted and click Connect.

  1. A folder will open to display your files and folders.

 

NOTE: For Encrypted Research Storage, type the following, replacing usernameORlabname with the name assigned to you: smb://researchstorage.binghamton.edu/usernameORlabname
