Zoom / Panopto: Customize Where Zoom Cloud Recordings are Saved in Panopto

By default all Zoom Cloud Recordings are found within a "Meeting Recordings" sub-folder of your “My Folder” in Panopto. You can also specify a different Panopto folder to add specific Zoom meeting recordings to automatically. 

For example, an instructor can set it so that students can access their recorded Zoom class meetings through their course in Brightspace.

To do this the instructor first needs the course’s Zoom meetings to be created. Zoom meeting ID(s) are needed for these settings.

You can set up Zoom meetings for a course by going into a course in Brightspace and using the Zoom Meetings option found at the bottom of the Course Tools menu. Students can then join those meetings from their course in Brightspace by also going to Course Tools > Zoom Meetings.

Zoom meetings IDs are needed for this process.

If you don’t already have meetings scheduled then you need to schedule a new recurring meeting for your class times first.  

Recurring meetings will all have the same Meeting ID. If you have different Meeting IDs for each meeting then each meeting ID needs to be added to the following Panopto settings.

If you already have meetings set up then you will need to copy the "Meeting ID" to paste it into the Panopto settings.

Now you will need to go into Panopto to add this meeting ID to settings in that system.

There are two ways to get into Panopto. Through Brightspace or its URL: https://binghamton.hosted.panopto.com

To get to Panopto from Brightspace: Go into a course.

  1. Click on Course Tools.
  2. Click into Panopto Recordings.
  3. Click the box/arrow icon on the Panopto screen.

In Panopto, first click on your initials icon in the upper right corner then click on User Settings in the menu that appears.

In User Settings:

  1. Be sure you are looking at the Info section
  2. scroll to the bottom of that screen
  3. Under the Meeting Import Settings section
    • use Edit to change the default folder for ALL of your Zoom cloud recordings to go AND/OR
    • use Add New to specify which meetings will get saved to go specific folders. This is where the Zoom meeting ID gets pasted. Remove spaces! Make it one long number.
  4. Be sure the Meeting Mapping Source is set to Zoom if it is not set on your screen.
