Overview
This article provides instructions for a Binghamton University (BU) individual to download folders or files that they've saved to a BU Microsoft OneDrive account. This is useful if you'd like to transfer OneDrive data to another location.
Download OneDrive Data
These steps should allow anyone with a currently-active BU domain account to log in to OneDrive, select folders/files they'd like to download, and then download a .zip file containing those items.
- Visit the Microsoft OneDrive sign in website at:
https://onedrive.live.com/about/en-us/signin/
- Sign in with your Bmail address and password.

If you're asked to "Stay signed in?" make any selections you prefer (this does not impact downloading data).

- To the left of any folder or file you’d like to download, check the checkbox

- After you’ve selected everything you’d like to download, then you can click the “Download” button towards the top of the page

Note: There are rare some file types that Microsoft doesn't make available for download - such as Microsoft OneNote files. If you don't see the Download button after selecting a file, then you've encountered one of these file types and you'll need to take alternative actions. Feel free to contact the ITS Help Desk for assistance.
- If prompted, select where you’d like to save the downloaded items. Otherwise, everything automatically goes to your default Downloads folder.
The download puts everything selected into a single .zip file.

Most operating systems can open .zip files without special actions, but if anything doesn’t work as expected, please contact the ITS Help Desk for assistance.
- That's it! Congratulations!
If you would like assistance, please feel free to contact the Binghamton University ITS Help Desk at 607-777-6420 or Submit a Request, and we'll be happy to help.
