Overview
This article provides instructions for mapping your Faculty or Staff network drives on a computer.
Note: To connect to network drives from off-campus, you must first connect to iVanti VPN.

Windows Instructions
Click Show/Hide to View -->
Windows 10
- Search for, or go to "This PC" (Desktop App)
- Select the computer tab, then select the icon for Map Network Drive

In the Map Network Drive window, complete the following:

For the Drive option, select either H, or S (S = Department Share Drive, H = Individual Share Drive)

If mapping an H Drive:

For the Folder option, type the following: \\bushare.binghamton.edu\username$ (Replace username with your BU username) followed by the "$" symbol:

An example of mapping an H drive
- If mapping an S Drive
- For the Folder option, type the following: \\bushare.binghamton.edu\departmentdrivename (departmentdrivename is the name of your department or shared folder on bushare)

An example of mapping an S drive
- If mapping a Research Drive
- For the Folder option, type the following: \\researchstorage.binghamton.edu\usernameORlabname (usernameOrlabname is the name assigned to you)

- Make sure to check the box that says reconnect at log on and select Finish. The drive should open to display the files and folders.
- If you are not logged into your domain account on the PC, Check the box to "Connect using different credentials" and type BU\username (example, BU\jsuny) in the user name field and your BU password in the password field and then click Finish.

Windows 11
- Open File Explorer

- In the left column, select This PC

- On the top navigation Bar, select the 3 dots and select Map Network Drive

In the Map Network Drive window, complete the following:

For the Drive option, select either H, or S (S = Department Share Drive, H = Individual Share Drive)

If mapping an H Drive:

For the Folder option, type the following: \\bushare.binghamton.edu\username$ (Replace username with your BU username) followed by the "$" symbol:

- If mapping a Research Drive
- For the Folder option, type the following: \\researchstorage.binghamton.edu\usernameORlabname (usernameOrlabname is the name of the drive assigned to you)

- Make sure to check the box that says Reconnect at sign-in and select Finish. The drive should open to display the files and folders.

Mac Instructions
Click Show/Hide to View -->
- In the Finder, click on the Go menu, select Connect to Server.

- Depending on what type of drive your mapping, complete the below steps:
- For your H or individual drive, type the following: smb://bushare.binghamton.edu/username$ (Replace username with your BU username) followed by the "$" symbol

- For your S or shared drive, type the following: smb://bushare.binghamton.edu/departmentdrivename (replace departmentdrivename with the name of your department or shared folder)

- For Encrypted Research Storage, type the following: smb://researchstorage.binghamton.edu/usernameORlabname (replace usernameORlabname with the name assigned to you)

- In the Name field, enter BU\username (replace username with your actual BU username) as a Registered User when prompted and click Connect.

- A folder will open to display your files and folders.
