Energy Saving for Computers and Printers

  1. Purchase Energy Star computers, printers, and equipment.
  2. Turn off computers, monitors, and printers when you leave for the day.
  3. Set your computer to power-save, or sleep mode after a certain period of inactivity. NOTE: Screen savers don't save energy!
  4. If you must leave your computer on for access while you are off-campus access, use the power management built in to your operating system.
  5. Use a laptop: a typical laptop computer uses less power than a typical desktop PC with a conventional display.
  6. If your printer has power management options, set to power down when not in use.

Data Cleanup

  1. Cleanup Messages and Files in Google Workspace (Email, and Drive)
  2. Delete emails messages in Google Web
  3. Delete email messages in Outlook
  4. Sorting and Filtering Files on a Network Drive

Printing- Think before you print!

  1. Do you need a printed copy?
  2. Can your department move to non print processes?
  3. Can you print Duplex (double sided)?
  4. Can you use 100% recycled paper?
