Service Description
The ITS Information Security (Info Sec) Office provides individual- and group-based IT security consultation, training, and educational services, resources, and recommendations either on behalf of a department, or directly to specific individuals, an entire Binghamton University population, or to the University community as a whole as required by University policy, or as contracted by a department.
IT Info Sec uses a mixture of in-house and third-party tools and resources to administer training exercises which fulfill yearly (or more) policy compliance requirements and promote best practices for IT security behaviors. Alongside best practices education, Info Sec also helps identify technical hardware and software criteria that assists with the functional aspects of policy compliance at the organizational, state, and federal levels where appropriate.
This includes, but is not limited to, administering required annual training to Binghamton University employees to address basic IT security awareness needs.
