Service Description

Listservs are used as a tool for collaboration and sharing of information. They are used by people who communicate often to a specific population. ITS can create a list that allows a list owner to manage and maintain their own list of subscribers. The format of the list is

An alternative to Listservs, is Google Groups. Google Groups provide similar functionality to traditional listservs, but give the Group Owner the ability to create and manage their own group. Many departments and groups on campus use Google Groups instead of Listservs because of its easy-to-use user interface, reliability and flexibility. The format of the group(list) would be an email address.
