Zoom: Sign in with email address

Overview

Most accounts access Zoom by signing in with Single Sign On (SSO). This uses our Central Authentication Service (CAS) and requires a BU domain account and 2-Factor Authentication.  Systems that use CAS for login are restricted to use a person's primary account, which is based on affiliation. Alumni, Organizational, Service and Secondary Accounts that only have an email address  will not have access to systems such as my.binghamton.edu, BU Brain, SUNY.edu, and other systems that use the CAS login.

To log into Zoom with one of these types of accounts, the email address should be used for sign on. There is an option available to use the email address (Zoom password) instead of the SSO login.

If this is a new email address, you will have to request that the administrator invite you to the Binghamton Zoom license before your first login. Contact helpdesk@binghamton.edu to request that your new email address be added to the Binghamton Zoom license. You will then log in to the Zoom app with your Binghamton email address and a password that you set up through Zoom.

This image displays the Zoom login client with the email sign in portion circled. "Sign up for free" is in the circle also.

NOTE: We have updated our Identity and Account Management System and some processes have changed. If you had previously signed in with SSO  please follow these steps to change your account to use email address and a Zoom password.

Sign out of Zoom and any browser sessions that are signed in. Go to https://zoom.us/ and select “Sign up it’s free”

This image displays the sign up screen.

Enter your date of birth when prompted, then enter your secondary Binghamton email address that you want to use with Zoom and click Sign Up. You will receive an email message to the address that will ask you to activate the account and then you will be able to set up the password.

This image is the Welcome to Zoom screen and shows the activate account button.

Once you activate your account, be sure to sign in to Zoom with the option for Email address and password from this point forward, NOT SSO.
