Overview
Most accounts access Zoom by signing in with Single Sign On (SSO). This uses our Central Authentication Service (CAS) and requires a BU domain account and 2-Factor Authentication. Systems that use CAS for login are restricted to use a person's primary account, which is based on affiliation. Alumni, Organizational, Service and Secondary Accounts that only have an email address will not have access to systems such as my.binghamton.edu, BU Brain, SUNY.edu, and other systems that use the CAS login.
Accessing Zoom with a New Email Address
To log into Zoom with an account with a newly-created email address for organizations, alumni, service and secondary accounts, you will need to submit a ticket to the Zoom Administrators at the Help Desk to request that an account with your new email address be created for you before you can log in. You will receive an email from Zoom to activate your account and create a password once the account is created.

You will then log in to the Zoom App with your Binghamton email address and the password that you set up through Zoom, rather than signing in via the SSO.

Request a Password
In the past, people were unable to request a password for a Zoom account on their own because they would be directed to the Binghamton University Login for SSO when using a Binghamton email address. Once the account is added to Zoom and they receive an invitation to the secondary address, they can get a password for the Zoom login using the email address instead.
- Sign out of Zoom and any browser sessions that are signed in.
- Reopen a new tab and go to Zoom's website (https://zoom.us/)
- Select “Sign up it’s free” at the top.
- Enter your date of birth when prompted
- Enter your secondary Binghamton email address that you want to use with Zoom and click Sign Up.
- You will receive an email message to the address that will ask you to activate the account and then you will be able to set up the password.
Once you activate your account, be sure to sign in to Zoom with the option for Email address and password from this point forward, NOT SSO. If you would like assistance, please feel free to contact the Binghamton University ITS Help Desk at 607-777-6420 or Submit a Request, and we'll be happy to help.
