Overview
This article provides instructions for finding the owner of a Google secondary calendar that you access in the Google Calendar App and transferring ownership if needed. The management of Google secondary calendars changed in 2026 and each secondary calendar now has one designated owner. Google automatically assigned the owner which may or may not align with your requirements for managing the calendar. If the calendar owner leaves your department and their account is deleted, the secondary calendar they own will also be deleted. To ensure that a shared calendar is not lost when the owner leaves the University, they should transfer ownership to someone else before their end date.
What is a Google secondary calendar?
A secondary calendar is any Google calendar that you create or a group calendar that is shared with you.
In the calendar settings under Calendar ID, it has an address that ends with @group.calendar.google.com
