Changing student print settings to print Simplex (one-sided)

Overview

ITS has set all student printers to duplex (two-sided) printing in order to assist students with getting the most out of their printing allocation and to help reduce the use of paper resources. There may be some need to print simplex (one-sided).

Need to change to Simplex printing?

  • Download your document to the source (Word, Adobe, etc)
  • Go to File → Print.  Here you will find more options to print to 1 sided.

Microsoft Word Example

Steps to Print Single-Sided in Word:

  1. Open the Print Dialog:

Go to File > Print or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + P (or Cmd + P on a Mac).

  1. Locate Printing Options:

Within the print dialog, find the settings related to "Copies & Pages" or "More Settings". This may vary slightly depending on your Word version and printer.

  1. Disable Double-Sided Printing:

Look for an option like Print on Both Sides, Two-Sided, or Duplex Printing. If it's enabled, click or uncheck it to disable double-sided printing.

  1. Select Print:

Once single-sided printing is enabled, click the Print button to print your document.

  1. Alternative Method:

If you don't see a direct "Print on Both Sides" option, you might need to select Layout or Printer Properties from the print dialog and then disable duplex printing there.
