Zoom: Downloading Meeting Transcripts

Overview

Having written transcripts of virtual meetings can be beneficial for qualitative research, to post in a course with a video for accessibility and even as a written record of a professor's lecture to refer back to.

Saving Transcripts in Zoom

  1. Sign into your Binghamton Zoom account in a web browser, rather than the app
  2. Go to Settings --> Meetings
  3. There is a shortcut bar to the left you can use instead of scrolling to jump down to In Meeting (Advanced)
  4. Under Save Captions, you can determine who can save the Closed Captions and/or the Transcript from that meeting.

  5. When you are in the meeting, on the meeting toolbar, click Transcript and a window will as you what language you would like to view it in for everyone in the meeting.

  6. A side panel will show up with the transcript.  You can hide and view the side panel with the Transcript just by hitting the Transcript button.  Before the meeting ends, click the blue "Save Transcript" button at the bottom of the panel.
