Microsoft Office 365 Access

Overview

A Microsoft Office 365 A3 license is available to all active students, active faculty and active staff at Binghamton University. This license allows the Office application to be download on personal computers and devices. Access to this license will be available until  a student graduates, or when a faculty or staff member leaves the university, with the exception of emeritus faculty who retain a lifetime A1 license (online access), and recent graduates who retain an A1 (online access) licence for 6 months.

  • Access by going to https://www.office.com and logging in with your Binghamton University account information.
  • Install on up to 5 compatible PCs and Macs, plus 5 mobile devices (iOS and Android).

 

A Microsoft Office 365 A1 license is available to all staff, faculty, recent faculty, recently graduated students, emeritus faculty, and visiting scholars/professionals at Binghamton University. This license allows allows access to Microsoft OneDrive and use of Office 365 online. The license does not allow the Microsoft Office application to be installed on a local computer.

  • Access by going to https://www.office.com and logging in with your Binghamton University account information.
  • Use Microsoft 365 Online to create, edit, and save documents.

 

Groups that get an A3 Employee License


  • Active Staff (with the exception identified staff without computers)
  • Active RF Staff
  • Active Faculty

 

Groups that get an A3 Student License


  • Enrolled Students (Current Semester)
  • Online Students
  • Students
     

 

Groups that get an A1 License


  • Staff (Not active, temporary access until 30 days after End Date)
  • Faculty (Not active, temporary access until 90 days after End Date)
  • Recent Faculty (Not active, temporary access until 365 days after End Date)
  • Staff Without Computers (Active staff but identified as not having a computer or the need to install the application)
  • Recently Graduated Students (6 months after a student's degree is conferred)
  • Emeritus Faculty
  • Visiting Scholars/Professionals

 

Groups that will not receive and A3 or A1 license


  • Alumni
  • Retirees
  • Volunteers

 

 

A3 Download and Install For PC and Mac:

  1. Visit https://www.office.com 
  2. Choose the "Sign in" link
  3. Sign in with your Binghamton University email address (example: username@binghamton.edu) and your Binghamton University password.
  4. Click, "Install apps," and then "Microsoft 365 apps."

 

A3 Download and Install For iOS and Android:

  1. Download from your app store
    • iOS: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
    • Android: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  2. Sign in with your Binghamton University email address (example: username@binghamton.edu) and your Binghamton University password for full editing capability. 

 

A1 Access through https://www.office.com:

  1. Access by going to https://www.office.com and logging in with your Binghamton University account information.
  2. Create, edit, and save files online.
  3. Save to OneDrive.
  4. Files can be downloaded but will be in read only when downloaded locally.
