Windows Storage

This article provides instructions for mapping your Faculty or Staff or Student network drives network drives on your Windows PC.

Windows 10 H Drive/S Drive: for Faculty/Staff

Go to "This PC" (Desktop App)
Select the Computer tab, then the "Map Network Drive" section
In the Map Network Drive window select H or S Drive
For the H Drive, type the following in the Folder box -> your BU username followed by "$"
\\bushare.binghamton.edu\username$

For the S Drive, type the following in the Folder box where the 'departmentdrivename' is the name of your department or the shared folder on bushare
\\bushare.binghamton.edu\departmentdrivename
Make sure to check the box that says 'reconnect at sign-in' and then select 'Finish'. The drive should open to display the files and folders.
If you are not logged into your domain account on the PC, Check the box to "connect using different credentials" and type BU\username in the username field and your BU password in the password field, then click 'Finish'.

When you need to reconnect to your HDrive or SDrive again, just follow these instructions!

Windows 11 H Drive/S Drive for Faculty/Staff

Open File Explorer
Select 'This PC'
On the left column
Open Navigation Bar
Select 3 dots on the right, then select 'Map network drive'
In the 'Map Network Drive' window
Select Drive letter from the dropdown option. For BUshare, H Drive, or personal drive, type the following in the Folder box: username is your BU username followed by the '$'
\\bushare.binghamton.edu\username$

For S Drive or shared drive, type the following in the Folder box where the 'departmentdrivename' is the name of your department of shared folder on bushare
\\bushare.binghamton.edu\departmentdrivename
For Encrypted Research Storage type the following in, replacing 'usernameORlabname' with the name assigned to you
\\researchstorage.binghamton.edu\usernameORlabname
Make sure to check the box that says 'reconnect at sign-in' and then select 'Finish'. The drive should open to display the files and folders.
If you are not logged into your domain account on the PC, Check the box to "connect using different credentials" and type BU\username in the username field and your BU password in the password field, then click 'Finish'.

When you need to reconnect to any of these drives again, just follow these instructions!

Windows 11 U Share For Students

Open File Explorer
Select 'This PC'
On the left column
Open Navigation Bar
Select 3 dots on the right, then select 'Map network drive'
In the 'Map Network Drive' window
Select Drive letter "U" from the dropdown option. Type the following in the Folder box: username is your BU username followed by the '$'
\\ushares.bu.binghamton.edu\[username]$
for example, usename baxterbearcat1 would be ... \\ushares.bu.binghamton.edu\baxterbearcat1$
Check the boxes as shown in the photo above
Click 'Finish'
In the Windows Security popup
Enter "BU\" followed by your BU username in the first text box, for example, BU\baxterbearcat1
In the second text box, enter your BU password (it will be hidden)
Check the "remember my credentials" box, if you are using your private trusted computer
Click "Ok" when completed.
Look at your UShare files!
You should now see the files on your UShare. If you do not, make sure you have your Binghamton user credentials correct. If you're still having difficulty, contact the Help Desk.

When you need to reconnect to your UShare again, just follow these instructions again!

Research Storage

Open File Explorer
Select 'This PC'
On the left column
Open Navigation Bar

Select 3 dots on the right, then select 'Map network drive'
In the 'Map Network Drive' window
Select Drive letter from the dropdown option. For Encrypted Research Storage type the following in, replacing 'usernameORlabname' with the name assigned to you
\\researchstorage.binghamton.edu\usernameORlabnam

NOTE: For Encrypted Research Storage, type the following, replacing usernameORlabname with the name assigned to you: smb://researchstorage.binghamton.edu/usernameORlabname
