MacOS Storage
This article provides instructions for mapping your Faculty or Staff or Student network drives network drives on your MacOS.
H Drive: For Faculty/Staff
El Capitan (10.11.x); Sierra (10.12.x); High Sierra (10.13.x); Mojave (10.14.x
This tutorial is on a MacBook M2 operating on Sonoma 14.6
Configuration Method: Finder > Go > Connect to Server
- Open 'Connect to Server' Window for Configuration
Click 'Connect to Server' at the bottom of the list
- Connect to Server
Enter smb:// followed by the address for the resource you wish to map
smb://bushare.binghamton.edu/username$
Click 'Connect'

You must include the $.
TIP: Click the '+' sign to save the Server URL to 'Favorite Servers' for future use.

Connecting to the server
Click 'Connect'

Enter your Name
Enter your name as BU\username
for example BU\baxterbearcat1
Type in your BU account password, it will be hidden.
Click 'Connect'.
- HDrive should popup on your screen

If you do not see the pop up, go to Finder>Go>Network and connect through there.
When you are done using HDrive and want to disconnect, press the 'Eject'
When you need to reconnect to your HDrive again, just follow these instructions again!
S Drive: For Faculty/Staff & Departments
El Capitan (10.11.x); Sierra (10.12.x); High Sierra (10.13.x); Mojave (10.14.x
This tutorial is on a MacBook M2 operating on Sonoma 14.6
Configuration Method: Finder > Go > Connect to Server
- Open 'Connect to Server' Window for Configuration
Click 'Connect to Server' at the bottom of the list
- Connect to Server
Enter smb:// followed by the address for the resource you wish to map
smb://bushare.binghamton.edu/departmentdrivename
Click 'Connect'

You must include the $.
TIP: Click the '+' sign to save the Server URL to 'Favorite Servers' for future use.

Click 'Connect'

Enter your Name
Enter your name as BU\username
for example BU\baxterbearcat1
Type in your BU account password, it will be hidden.
Click 'Connect'.
- HDrive should popup on your screen

If you do not see the pop up, go to Finder>Go>Network and connect through there.
When you are done using SDrive and want to disconnect, press the 'Eject'
When you need to reconnect to your SDrive again, just follow these instructions again!
U Share: For Students

- Open 'Connect to Server' Window for Configuration
Click 'Connect to Server' at the bottom of the list
- Connect to Server
There will be a pop-up, in the Server Address field, type:
​​​​smb://ushares.bu.binghamton.edu/[username]$
Click 'Connect'

You must include the $.
TIP: Click the '+' sign to save the Server URL to 'Favorite Servers' for future use.

Click 'Connect'

Enter your BU username
for example: baxterbearcat1
Type in your BU account password, it will be hidden.
Click 'Connect'.
- UShare should popup on your screen

If you do not see the pop up, go to Finder>Go>Network and connect through there.
When you are done using UShare and want to disconnect, press the 'Eject'
When you need to reconnect to your UShare again, just follow these instructions again!
Research Storage
El Capitan (10.11.x); Sierra (10.12.x); High Sierra (10.13.x); Mojave (10.14.x
This tutorial is on a MacBook M2 operating on Sonoma 14.6
Configuration Method: Finder > Go > Connect to Server
- Open 'Connect to Server' Window for Configuration
Click 'Connect to Server' at the bottom of the list
- Connect to Server
Enter smb:// followed by the address for the resource you wish to map. For Encrypted Research Storage, type the following, replacing usernameORlabname with the name assigned to you:
smb://researchstorage.binghamton.edu/usernameORlabname
Click 'Connect'

TIP: Click the '+' sign to save the Server URL to 'Favorite Servers' for future use.
