Mapping your UShare (ushares.bu.binghamton.edu) on Windows OS or Mac OS

Overview

All students are provided a university U-Drive to save their coursework in during their studies at Binghamton University. This article provides the instructions on how to map a student U-Drive to a computer.

Windows Instructions

Click Show/Hide to View -->

Open File Explorer
In the left column, select This PC

On the top Navigation Bar, select the 3 dots and select Map Network Drive

In the Map Network Drive window, complete the following:
1. For the Drive option, select the letter U
2. For the Folder option, type the following: \\ushares.bu.binghamton.edu\username$ (Replace the [username] with your BU username followed by the "$" symbol:
3. Check both boxes at the bottom, then click Finish

An example of mapping a U drive

A dialog box will appear. In the login screen, enter BU\[Username] for the username box and your BU Password for the password box

Check the "Remember my credentials" box, if this is your private trusted computer. Then click on the "OK" button.
You should now see the files on your UShare.

If you do not, make sure you have your Binghamton user credentials correct. If you're still having difficulty contact the Help Desk.

Mac Instructions

Click Show/Hide to View -->

In the Finder, click on the Go menu, select Connect to Server.

Enter smb://ushares.bu.binghamton.edu/[username]$ in the provided field (Replace the [username] with your BU username followed by the "$" symbol)

TIP: Click the '+' sign to save the Server URL to 'Favorite Servers' for future use.

After clicking Connect, enter your BU username and password

Once connected, your ushare will display in a new window

If you get an error, make sure you have your Binghamton user credentials correct. If you're still having difficulty contact the Help Desk.
