If users do not currently Sync their information in Chrome, they may see the following pop up message:

Setting up your Chrome Profile

If you have not signed into Chrome previously and have bookmarks and browser settings that you would like to maintain in your new Binghamton University Profile, check the box to "Keep local browsing data (bookmarks, passwords, history, etc.)

If you did not check this box and find that you once you are signed into your Binghamton University email account that all of your bookmarks are gone, you can recover them from a different Chrome profile.

1. Open the profile picker at the top right - (your initial or your Bmail profile photo).

2. Open the previous profile that should have the bookmarks and browsing data (in case of multiple profiles, you may have to try and find the right one). The name may show up as “Person 1” or “Person 2”.

3. Click the 3-dot icon at the top right and select Bookmarks > Bookmark manager.

4. In the Bookmark manager page, click the 3-dot icon at the top right and select Export bookmarks then click Save. Make sure to save the file to a location where you can find the exported file.

After you have exported your bookmarks, you can delete the Binghamton University Profile and close the browser. Open Chrome again and log into your Binghamton University email where you may proceed to log into your Binghamton University email account signed into Chrome. Please note that the prompt will show up again, but this time, be sure to check the box where it says “keep local browsing data” before continuing.

If the bookmarks are still missing, you can import them from the file you exported previously.

1. On your computer, open Chrome.

2. At the top right, click the three dots More.

3. Select Bookmarks and then Import Bookmarks and Settings.

4. Select the option for Bookmarks HTML file and find the file with the bookmarks you'd like to import.

5. Click Import.

6. Click Done.
