Brightspace: Changing Someone's Role Within a Brightspace Course

Body

There are many reasons why an Instructor may need to change someone's role or even their own role within their course in Brightspace.

  • A student needs to complete an incomeplete and the course is closed to students
  • There are multiple instructors within a course and one wants a course evaluation and another doesn't.
  • The TA of a cross-listed course needs access to all students in all sections rather than just one section of the cross-listing
  • Watermark CES Opt-Out requires the role of "Instructor - No Course Evaluation" in a multi-instructor course. The role of "Instructor" will be evaluated through the Watermark Course Evaluations and Surveys. NOTE: An instructor can change their own role.

The steps below can only be carried out by someone with one of the "Instructor" roles. TAs cannot change someone's role.

  1. Click into Classlist
  2. Check off the student whose role you wish to change
  3. Click the "Enrollment" link at the top of the class listing
  4. Drop down the "New Role" listing
  5. Choose the appropriate role
  6. Click Save
