Adobe Licensing Information and Product Offerings

Body

Overview

Binghamton has joined the SUNY-wide agreement with Adobe which allows ITS to offer a wider selection of Adobe products, and discounts to the Binghamton University campus community.

Discontinuation of Acrobat Pro (2020 or 2017) Perpetual Licensing

Adobe Acrobat Pro is no longer being supported or updated by Adobe, and ITS is no longer able to quote or install the perpetual version. While individuals may still have Acrobat Pro 2020, or 2017 installed on their device, it is recommended to upgrade to Adobe's supported subscription based software.

What Adobe product is best for you?

If you are a content creator, Creative Cloud All Apps is the package for you, offering the full suite of Adobe design and media tools. For PDF creation, editing, e-signatures, and online forms, Adobe Acrobat Pro provides these document management capabilities. For quick, lightweight design work such as social media graphics or flyers, Adobe Express offers an easy-to-use, web-based alternative.

Note: If you are looking for individual titles such as Illustrator, Photoshop, or Dreamweaver,  due to our licensing structure, you must request the full Creative Cloud package.

Please see the list below of the Adobe products available to the Binghamton University campus.

Adobe Acrobat Classic (No new subscriptions available through current SUNY contract)

Adobe Acrobat Classic is an updated version of Acrobat desktop software designed to replace the older perpetual software versions. It's available as a 3-year term license, non-renewing, and paid upfront. Once activated, you can use it offline for the entire term.

It includes all of the features of Acrobat Pro 2020, plus additional enhancements, including a new interface, the ability to star a document, improved accessibility tagging, and more. It doesn't include Adobe Document Cloud services. Acrobat Classic doesn't receive feature updates and lacks web-based features like e-signing, sharing for review, and AI capabilities. With Acrobat Classic, paid features are not available on web browsers and mobile devices.

With Acrobat Classic, you have full access to PDF tools on your desktop only (no web or mobile access). If you want additional features and cloud services, you can choose an Acrobat Pro subscription instead.
